Fresh Air Privacy Policy
Last updated July 23, 2026
The short version
Fresh Air collects as little information as possible. We use PostHog for limited product analytics, but we do not send PostHog your location, saved cities, name, email address, advertising identifier, purchase information, or notification content. Fresh Air does not display ads, participate in advertising, or track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell or rent your information.
Information Fresh Air needs
Fresh Air only handles information needed to provide weather, alerts, purchases, support, and limited product analytics:
- Location: When you request weather, Fresh Air uses the coordinates for your current or selected location to retrieve the forecast. We do not attach those coordinates to your name, email address, advertising identifier, purchase information, or a user profile.
- Weather alerts: If you enable rain or snow alerts, we retain the minimum information needed to deliver them: an Apple Push Notification service token, alert location, language, selected weather provider, and scheduling state.
- Purchases: We use an installation identifier and Apple transaction identifiers to verify paid features, restore access, prevent duplicate processing, and address purchase-support requests.
- Support: If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to include in your message.
- Product analytics: Fresh Air sends PostHog the names of app screens viewed and selected feature interactions, together with a randomly generated installation identifier and basic technical details such as app version, device model and type, operating-system version, locale, time zone, screen size, and network type. These analytics are pseudonymous: they are not attached to your name, email address, or an advertising identifier.
Information Fresh Air does not collect
Fresh Air does not collect IDFA, any other advertising identifier, advertising data, or a history of the other apps and websites you use. We do not track you across apps or websites. Our analytics do not include location data, saved cities, weather searches, names, email addresses, purchase information, push tokens, notification content, or information you enter in the app. We do not use session replay or automatic interaction recording.
How we use information
We use the limited information above only to:
- Return weather for the location you requested;
- Deliver rain or snow alerts you enabled;
- Verify and restore purchases;
- Respond to support requests; and
- Understand which screens and features are used so we can maintain and improve Fresh Air; and
- Operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
We do not combine product analytics with location data, purchase information, or information that directly identifies you. We do not use analytics for advertising or marketing.
Service providers and sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share personal information, location data, purchase information, or notification information for advertising or marketing. We do not provide data to advertisers because Fresh Air does not use advertising.
PostHog processes the limited product analytics described above on our behalf. PostHog is our analytics service provider, not an advertising partner. Like any service receiving an internet request, PostHog may process the request’s IP address to receive and secure the connection; Fresh Air does not include GPS coordinates or saved locations in analytics events. We do not authorize PostHog to use Fresh Air analytics for advertising, cross-app tracking, or its own marketing.
A weather forecast requires a location. To return the forecast, Fresh Air sends the requested coordinates to the weather provider selected in the app. The request does not include your name, email address, installation identifier, purchase information, or other user-identifying information. The coordinates are used only to return weather for that request.
Apple processes the limited information required to handle App Store purchases and deliver push notifications. Our hosting infrastructure processes requests only as needed to operate and secure Fresh Air. We do not authorize these services to use Fresh Air data for advertising, marketing, or user profiling.
We do not voluntarily disclose personal information. We would disclose information only if legally required to do so.
Storage and retention
Forecast responses may be cached briefly to make the service faster and more reliable. Alert registrations remain only while alerts are enabled or until the registration expires. Purchase records are retained only as needed to verify access, restore purchases, prevent duplicate processing, and meet legal obligations.
Analytics events are stored in our PostHog account and are associated only with the randomly generated installation identifier, not with a named user profile. Operational logs are minimized. We do not intentionally place location coordinates, push tokens, or complete signed Apple transactions in logs.
Your choices
You control location access and notifications in iOS Settings. You can disable alerts in Fresh Air or in iOS Settings at any time. You may also request deletion of server-held installation and alert data by contacting us.
